Cookie Policy
Last updated: 6 June 2026
This Cookie Policy explains how Recovering Satellites uses cookies and similar technologies on recovering-satellites.co.uk. We are an independent band, and this is a simple informational website, so we keep our use of cookies to a minimum. It should be read alongside our Privacy Policy.
What are cookies?
Cookies are small text files placed on your device when you visit a website. They help the site work, remember your preferences, and — where you allow it — help us understand how the site is used.
How we manage your consent
We use our own built-in cookie banner to ask for and record your choices. When you first visit, the banner lets you Accept or Reject non-essential cookies, or use Manage to choose by category. Non-essential cookies (such as analytics) are blocked until you give consent. Your choice is stored on your device so you are not asked again on every visit.
Counting taps, without cookies
When someone taps a button to ring, email, WhatsApp or get directions to Recovering Satellites, this website adds one to a daily count for that page, kept on the website's own server. That is all it keeps: no cookie is set, and nothing that could identify you or your device is stored. The counts are used only to see which pages bring enquiries, so the site can be improved. The law allows this without asking first, as long as you can say no. To say no, press "Don't count my taps" below: this browser will remember it, and a browser that sends a Global Privacy Control signal is never counted.
Types of cookies we use
Strictly necessary / essential cookies
These are required for the website and consent banner to function and cannot be switched off. They include the cookie that remembers your consent choices so you are not asked on every visit. These do not require your consent.
Analytics cookies
We use Google Analytics 4 to collect anonymous, aggregated information about how visitors use the site (for example, which pages are viewed). Analytics cookies are only set after you accept analytics cookies. We use Google Consent Mode v2, so no analytics storage is placed on your device until consent is granted. If you decline, no analytics cookies are stored; Google may still receive anonymous, cookieless signals used only for aggregated statistics.
Third-party services
Some pages embed content from third parties — for example Spotify, SoundCloud and YouTube (privacy-enhanced mode) players, and our Songkick listings. These providers may set their own cookies when you interact with their embedded content. We recommend reviewing their respective privacy and cookie policies.
Withdrawing or changing consent
You can change or withdraw your consent at any time using the "Cookie settings" link in the footer of any page, which reopens the banner so you can update your choice. You can also clear or block cookies through your browser settings, although the site may not function as intended without essential cookies.
